Please Note: Academy workshops are training sessions that will build your skills through hands-on, deep dive education. Our Academy Courses do require a separate registration. If you are registering for the Power Platform World Tour, you will have the option to add on Academy classes during the registration process.

When you see your registration, click Edit.
On the next screen, click Add Activities.
Check the box next to the class title you're interested in.
Follow the prompts to complete the process of adding this class to your registration.

Power BI DAX Fundamentals is a 1-day training course for new Power BI authors and SSAS developers who want to learn a foundational set of skills in the DAX querying language. This is an instructor led class that is focused on learning core concepts of DAX and applying them in a hands on fashion.

You will learn:

- What is DAX and how does it tie into Power BI
- The basics of building and understanding measures
- How to think of DAX filters properly as tables
- Creation of override filters to construct complex measures

(1) Introduction to DAX and Dimensional Modeling
(2) Understanding and Creating Simple Measures
(3) Concepts and Basic Application of CALCULATE()
(4) Concepts and Basic Application of Iterators
(5) Intermediate Measures combining CALCULATE() & Iterators
(6) Skill Integration with simplified Time Intelligence
(7) Synthesis of Skills with full Time Intelligence

Prerequisites:

Some experience with Power BI or SSAS.

Recommended:

(Any One of the Following)
Experience working with Excel Pivot Tables
Experience working with Excel Array Formulas
Experience working with a SQL language
